I had an amazing time participating at an annual promotional event for Proctor and Gamble Asia, who invited me to speak as a guest expert about their new Head & Shoulders Cool Blast shampoo. It’s actually a really great shampoo, been using it every day for the past month and love the way it feels so had no problems at all giving my opinion on it.
They flew me in on Thai Airways and put me up for a few nights in the brand new and super luxe Sofitel So in Bangkok. Liv Tyler was at the event, too. Lots of fun all around!
Melissa (one of the main event coordinators), me, Smart Krissada, and Utt in the rehearsal room.
Me, Smart, and Utt on stage at the event:
Me and Smart, who turned out to be a really humble, personable man. Utt, too, was a really down-to-earth guy, who also recently underwent a Buddhist ordination.
The day I landed in Singapore, I had just enough time to head home, shower, change, and pack again for a flight that evening to Melbourne for the 21 Convention. More on that next time

David,
Awesome brother. I see Head and Shoulders is doing your hair good. Can you please share with us your tips for grooming your hair, i.e. what do you use and how do you style it? Anything particular mentioned in your salon, while receiving a haircut? I am sure a lot of us would love to know.
Hey Astute,
The new Cool Blast H&S shampoo really is wonderful–it’s a creamy texture, so it won’t dry out your hair, but it also has a refreshing mint that gives a soothing, cooling feeling on the scalp. Plus, because it’s H&S, you know it’s got the best dandruff control. I use it daily now.
I also use a conditioner after shampooing.
Ideally, I would only wash my hair every other day because washing it too much is bad for the scalp and hair. But I work out every day, and I use quite a bit of product, so I end up having to wash it a couple of times most days
As for style, go to a stylist who is very experienced with Asian hair (if you’re Asian, that is, haha). Living in Singapore, that’s not a problem at all
I look to my archetypes for inspiration for styles. This past year, I tried a long style like Takayuki Yamada. Kept that for almost a year. But in hot Singapore, it just wasn’t practical. Plus, longer hair will make you look older, which is not what I need right now, haha. Currently, I’m trying out the latest David Beckham haircut, which is really short on the sides and longer on the top slicked back.
Get the best stylist you can afford and ask him to give you a cut that complements your face shape and the personality you’d like to convey.
Best, David
What conditioner and facial products do you use, David? Thanks!
