On Keeping Score
December 31, 2007
As the year 2007 nears its end, I figure it’s a good time to reflect on the tremendous transformations this year.
One way of keeping track of progress to a goal is through monitoring sheer quantity, or in the case of the community, “keeping score.” I used to give this only cursory attention, as my goal was never to amass a large number of lays.
But the last time I met him, Sebastian challenged me to count up my lifetime lays. In his mid-twenties, Seb’s nearing three hundred now. As a late-comer to the scene, I’m somewhere over eighty. Seb said I should count my adult industry lays, which would bring the total to well over a hundred.
I’ve never been one to count notches on the bedpost, having had only four girlfriends until just a few years ago. It seems to me that one can get only the roughest of estimations of a man’s skill through a straight-up count. I know for a fact that a lot of guys pad their “score” with ugly girls and HB5-6s.
I think if we’re going to quantify experience level, we should weigh the scores so that the more difficult lays count more. Yes, this is the geek in me (I’ve found that most of the top community guys are actually geeks-in-disguise). But how to weigh? Clearly, for determining whether a girl is a 10 versus just an 8, there are no OBJECTIVE criteria that are based SOLELY on the GIRLS’ OWN ATTRIBUTES.
I think difficulty level is indexed to the guy’s type of game. For example, for most guys, gaming girls who perceive themselves as ugly (UGs) or of medium value (HB5-6s) is easier than gaming an emotionally mature supermodel. So for these guys, the supermodel should count for much more.
On the other hand, high-status males might have more trouble getting a girl who perceives herself as low-status (remember: social value is relative). So for this guy, getting the mature supermodel might actually be easier than getting the fat girl next door! (Aside: for this very reason, Sebastian will challenge high-value guys to practice gaming ugly girls; see his classic mASF posts on what he learned from gaming UGs). I can attest to having similar Attainability (Believability) problems with girls who perceive themselves as of low-to-medium value.
So in the end, what do the numbers tell you about how good a guy’s skillset is? To me, they’re sort of like GRE scores in grad school admissions. A high score tells you something about that person’s skill level, but without more details, it’s impossible to make an accurate assessment.
While we’re on the subject, I should mention as a point of pride that I’m ending a bit of a streak myself, having enjoyed intimacy with 12 girls now in less than two months. One of these was from social circles, which required very little effort on my part. The others included dancers, models, stewardesses from two Asian airlines, millionaires, a millionaire’s wife, an actress, a singer, a top model agent, plus a handful of executive types. I’m sure if I wanted to pad my numbers (and had more free time), I could’ve raised this figure by another several. But part of having high standards is actually having high standards
… and turning down some sure things.
I say it’s ending because I’m looking forward finally to a brief hiatus from sleeping around to concentrate on work duties for the next several weeks, this being the busiest work period of the year coming up for me with lots of traveling.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
PS. Thanks to Sebastian for pointing me to Hotspot Shield, a godsend.
My Blog is Blocked in China!
December 11, 2007
It’s official. I’m wanted in China. Haha!
My blog is blocked in China… at least as of right now. Maybe the powers that be will see fit to unblock it by tomorrow morning.
To the Chinese censors: I’ve specifically avoided linking my site to China-based blogs and sites. My blog is written primarily for my friends back home in the West, so that they can keep up with my life. I really don’t think anyone but “foreigners” (waiguoren) are reading this (albeit, from all over the world). So no need to fear about me influencing the minds of susceptible young Chinese ![]()
Anyway, I’m interpreting this as a sign I’ve “arrived” ![]()
I’m accessing it through a proxy site, but the blog writing features are all messed up using the proxy site. For example, I don’t have the option of posting photos when writing from the proxy site. Bummer.
This week has seen a lot of action, including a KTV date with a gorgeous 20 yo. actress-model and more visits with the new girl from Thursday.
Can’t wait for the Singapore trip with my girl and the bootcamp, which is going to be just awesome!
Happy playin’, The Asian Rake.
